Kostiantynivka, located just 10 km from the front lines in Donetsk Oblast, eastern Ukraine, is an industrial city nestled along the Kryvyi Torets River. Historically, it was one of Ukraine’s key glass-making centers.
The shadow of the Russian invasion loomed over the city. In the initial hours of the conflict, Kostiantynivka suffered missile strikes that targeted its citizens as well as a local military base.
Almost daily artillery and missile attacks damage civilian and municipal structures alike without indifference.
Prior to the war, Kostiantynivka boasted a population of approximately 67,000 residents, including 14,700 children. Today the city has only around 1,900 children remaining. Ongoing risks and challenges continue, and efforts persist to convince residents to evacuate.
Firfield joined hands with Kostiantynivka in May of 2023, with the hopes of providing them resources and relief to the ongoing attacks.
In accordance with our core principles, we work diligently to maintain real time relationships with community leadership that allow us to focus donations on specific things each city needs.
