In a separate visit on the 9th of March, our team from Ukraine Aid International had the privilege of visiting the resilient town of Kostyantynivka, situated in eastern Ukraine.
During our visit, we had the opportunity to meet with the Deputy Mayor and assess the various infrastructure problems that plague the town. From dilapidated schools to a gas power plant that has endured substantial damage, Kostyantynivka faces numerous challenges that threaten the livelihoods of its residents.
One of the most pressing concerns we discovered was the state of the gas power plant. Despite being 90% bombed, it still manages to operate at a mere 5% of its original capacity. This not only hampers the availability of electricity for the residents but also jeopardizes the plant’s ability to provide heating during the harsh winter months.
Furthermore, the town’s location on the direct road to Bakhmut puts it at a high risk of being taken, making it imperative to fortify Kostyantynivka to to sustain as little damage as possible.
