Discover the untold story of Sviatohirsk, a town that has faced unimaginable devastation and yet remains a testament to resilience.
During our recent visit on the 8th of March, we were captivated by the breathtaking hilltop that once served as a lover’s lane, now offering a haunting view of the flattened ruins of Sviatohirsk.
We had the privilege of witnessing the incredible work of the World Central Kitchen (WCK), entirely operated by locals, which has been providing vital aid to the community.
However, in just a month, WCK will be redirecting its resources to more desperate areas, leaving Sviatohirsk in urgent need of support.
One remarkable aspect of Sviatohirsk is its highly efficient and inclusive distribution system. Through a voucher-based system, people receive aid, fostering a hospitable and friendly atmosphere, as the entire operation is run by locals who understand the needs and challenges of their community.
We were deeply moved as we explored the town hall, still covered in the graffiti left behind by Russian soldiers. Additionally, we visited the music school, funded by the Japanese embassy, only to find it destroyed by the ravages of war.
The scars of close-range tank fire were visible, a stark reminder of the immense suffering endured by the town’s inhabitants.
Join us in extending a helping hand to Sviatohirsk. As we were taken through private neighborhoods into the ruined backyards of once-beautiful hand-built homes, we witnessed the devastating consequences of Russian tanks using innocent citizens and their residences as shields.
Despite the heartbreaking destruction, the town is surrounded by abundant, charred forests, an enduring symbol of the region’s natural beauty and serenity. Let us come together to provide the support Sviatohirsk desperately needs for rehabilitation.
Together, we can make a difference in the lives of these resilient individuals and help restore hope to a town that has suffered greatly. Make a donation and be part of the transformative journey of rebuilding Sviatohirsk.
