As with many cities on the front lines of the war certain municipal work has halted or slowed thanks to the prioritization of materials, vehicles, and people towards the fighting efforts. That has left Lyman without proper resources for trash disposal, a critical yet underestimated support for any city.
Trash removal means cleaner streets and healthier communities, and can even support the clearing of debris from ongoing attacks and raids. It is also important to keep the streets clear so emergency vehicles can navigate the city. UAI worked with Westport to deliver a trash truck to Lyman to aid in these efforts. This is another example that the people of Ukraine are ready to take action to support themselves, but may not have access to the resources to do so- that is where our Friendship Cities come in!
